The main action is blocking a channel. When you block another user's channel, they can no longer see your messages on live chat, in comments, or receive your mentions. Blocking is a two-way street—you also won't be able to see their messages, as their comments on your videos will be hidden. This is a somewhat private action, and importantly, if you block someone, they are also blocked in other Google products, creating a more comprehensive separation.
If you are a content creator who has hidden a user from your channel, you can unblock them through YouTube Studio:
